TARDIS

What it does

TARDIS is a plugin that gives you the ability to create a Police Box that lets you time travel (teleport) to random locations. It adds a Whovian twist to the typical /sethome and /home commands.

As a player, you can:

  • Create a TARDIS that is bigger on the inside.
  • Time travel to a random location.
  • Time travel back home (where you created the TARDIS initially).
  • Save and list interesting time travel locations, so you can return to them easily.
  • Take companions with you when you time travel.
  • Make your TARDIS blend in with the Chameleon Circuit.
  • Use your own schematic to build the TARDIS interior
  • Grow new TARDIS rooms
  • Use Artron Energy
  • Remote control the TARDIS

What's new?

v2.2-beta-1

  • Updated for CraftBukkit 1.5.1-R0.1
  • You can now save a list of TARDIS Police Box locations on your server to a text file with the command /tardisadmin list save
  • Interior sounds used by the Spout plugin have been updated to newer more 'atmospheric' ones
  • Added a Minecraft 1.5 redstone block TARDIS interior
  • Fixed a bug if the TARDISChunkGenerator plugin was not installed
  • Fixed the database sometimes not updating itself properly when updating from a previous version
  • TARDIS walls and room walls and floors can now be CLAY and QUARTZ blocks
  • Added /tardisroom command to add your own room schematics - see http://eccentricdevotion.github.com/TARDIS/custom-rooms.html
  • The plugin now properly respects the config options for the NETHER and THE END when using the travel commands
  • Changed the add_perms functionality so that multiple permission groups can be added to TARDIS worlds upon creation - see http://eccentricdevotion.github.com/TARDIS/add-permissions.html - if you are using this function on your server you will need to update your plugins/TARDIS/permissions.txt file
  • The 'save-sign' and 'scanner' are now automatically added to newly created TARDISes - delete your plugins/TARDIS/schematics folder so you get the updated files

Installation

As a minimum, just drop the TARDIS.jar and any optional plugins listed below into the Bukkit plugins folder and start your server. For more detailed instructions see: http://eccentricdevotion.github.com/TARDIS/installation.html

Optional installs

These are not needed for TARDIS to function, but enhance the plugin with extra features...

  • Install Multiverse so you have multiple worlds to travel to. This is also required if you want to generate TARDISes in their own self-conatined world.
  • Install the TARDISChunkGenerator plugin so that you can generate TARDISes in their own self-conatined world (included in the ZIP download).
  • Install the SpoutPlugin, so that you can hear TARDIS and Doctor Who sound effects (when using the SpoutCraft client).
  • Install WorldGuard to automatically protect your TARDIS from griefing, and stop mobs spawning in TARDIS worlds.
  • Install WorldBorder to restrict the size of the worlds generated for TARDIS occupation.
  • Install a Permissions plugin, so that you can restrict or grant players the rights to use TARDIS’ different features. We like PermissionsBukkit.
  • Use the custom TARDIS texture pack - UPDATED - compatible with Minecraft 1.5
